Previewing clips...

Post by AWM »

Hey hey hey!! Me again! Slowly going loopy now, I've been stuck in for two days giving myself a VJ Resolume crash course!

Next question (which I can't find in the manual); I've realised that lots of clips have to be pre-matched with the beat of the tune just like a DJ would with a record when rocking back and forth on the beat in the headphones but what's the equivalent of headphones in Resolume, how do I beat match an image before I send it out to project?

Hope this makes sense, thanks for any help, Edwin's been very helpful, so if you're there mate, I'd really appreciate it..Did I mention Edwin's my middle name?..No, it actually is!

Anyway, anyone there?

hi Alex,

When resolume loads into a deck it will calculate how many beats it will need to playback the file based on a default bpm of 120.
You can modify the number of beats when right clicking the clip.

You can't actually preview the clip while it's playing like you would do with sound as a dj. Once load the clip in the layer it will start playing.

Could you tell me waht you actually want to aacomplish?
Have you figured out how to use the bpm feauture in resolume yet?

Cheers
Edwin

Hiya Edwin, basically, about 6 months ago I decided I wanted to be a VJ, simple as that! Everything I've done, education, career and hobby-wise so far kind links in to VJ'ing. I read The VJ Book, went on a days course with VJ Anyone and now I've just about managed to set up my own equipment (laptop, midi keyboard and projector).

I usually work as an editor between 9-7 so haven't had time to really begin with the VJ thing but I had a small operation on Tuesday and I'm homebound until Monday, so I'm planning to make the most of these days and really get to grips with VJ'ing. I've got a University project to hand in in January and I've decided to do a VJ sequence to a friends DJ set (this is why I'm so desperate and determined to make some progress in the next few days).

I understand that this may not be easy and I might regret doing this because obviously my first ever VJ sequence isn't going to be my best but I feel this is a good way to learn and hopefully it'll give me a rough idea of where I can take this in the future.

Anyway! I've added you to my MSN messenger Edwin, if you're on there it'll be good to have a chat, you seem to be the most helpful on here so far, you reply a lot AND you're replies are appropriate to the question, I take it you work for Resolume?

Thanks,

Alex
