Assigning Midi controllers, Resolume doesn't detect them all??...

Post by AWM »

Hi, I'm trying to assign buttons and controllers to Resolume from my Midi keyboard, just started today!

I'm getting there slowly, I have a Yamaha VJX Midi Keyboard (see link below)...

I've managed to assign most keys but having a few probs.

Obviously I'm trying to set the control knobs on the keyboard to control things like image transparency etc.

I have 5 knobs on the left hand side, so I'd like the first 3 to control the 3 layers (for obvious reasons), I've set the first 2 and they work but Resolume doesn't detect the other 3, what could this be?

Thanks,

Alex

hi alex,
maybe those other three are not regular controllers but maybe pitch bend's or modulation controllers.
Only regular controllers are detected.
Try MidiOX to find out what messages those controllers are sending.
http://www.midiox.com/
MidiOx is a midi monitor and router and helps testing your midi devices.

I used Midiox to work out which controllers gave off a midi signal and which didn't. One problem I have come across however, is Resolume only detects 3 controllers but one of these it only detects half of the movement, e.g. If I turn the knob from centre to left, it reads it, whereas if I turn it from centre to right, it doesn't? This doesn't give a very smooth transition?
