Hi, looking for some advice (I hope it's OK to post this here; others here are likely going to know?)
Been a hobbyist video'er for some years now but looking at getting into video a little more seriously now.
I'm after a camera which I'll use both for capturing general footage for VJ'ing, and also for recording live events/gigs.
I think this means the camera needs to be:
- Relatively decent in low-light
- Crisp/clear in decent light
- Decent battery life, and/or batteries easily replacable
- Not too big/bulky or heavy, easy to transport
- Needs firewire (this is absolutely nessecary)
- High quality / long length recording (MiniDV? HD? Suggestions please?)
- Inbuilt microphone not too crappy, with external mic capability (XLR not nessecary)
- Cost of around AU$1500-2000 [$US $800-$1200] at most (although I can be tempted if something slightly more expensive kicks serious ass).
- Other things (maybe I'm forgetting?)
I'm not sure whether I go a high end consumer camera or look at getting a second hand vx2100 or something (and I have a feeling this might be too big/bulky).
I would love suggestions, hints, tips, etc.
Thanks.
