Hi all,
I would like to use resolume with a rock band. I would like to do something like....
- have the band name 'pulse' with every kick drum
- have some background stuff 'glow' when the guitar is played
- have the name of the song come up after it starts.
or something like that...fairly basic really.
The thing is i would be running it from a laptop, but the laptop will be behind the band, therefore not having access to it to change or trigger stuff, which is where the song name bit will be hard to do. Alos I only have the usual line in for the laptop, so getting both guitar and kick signal might be tricky.
Any ideas??
Thanks people.
How to use for Rock band
well, you could make a flash file that reacts to the bass and make it scale up with the more bass it has.
or the guitar, you would use around the mids and make it effect the glow setting on a clip.
now tryit to get them compleatly seperate is easy. if you are only going to use guitar and drums, see if the mixer has a submix, and pan the drums to the left, and guitar to the right. why does the laptop have to be behind the band? if you need to change things each new song, you will have to do it from the laptop, or remotely with midi.

in my oppinion Resolume is the wrong Software for this Application, because its developed to be used as a "live" mixing Solution and not for standalone runing. The only Solution i could imagine is this :
If the Keyboarder (if there is one ) plays with midi tracks and the drummer plays on click (from the Keyboarder) you can trigger everything you want directly by midi from the Keyboard Sequecer or you you use another Sequencer synced with MTC....
But programming a Flash file that really reactsto the base...youre gonna need the direct micsignal only from the base (perhaps with another trigger mic and an additional small mixer or a splitter/monitor aux)
oh ok...levon posted a solution like this....

cheers guys - just a couple of questions....
movebandit, there is no keyboardist so not sure how to change with each song, could you please recommend the right software that would work for this situation?
levon, if I can do a submix, how do I setup resolume to know left-right? (didnt see anything in the manual)
To change video per song, I was thinking something along the lines of maybe having a timer on the kick/guitar, and if neither of them are played for say 20-30 seconds, then to trigger the next event, maybe a midi utility could handle this? I would have to use a audio to midi converter as well I think.
