Post by declanswift »

can anybody help me get my s-video in working. i bought the aurora with the expectation that i could mix in another laptop or camera on the s-video in through resolume.
maybe i'm just missing something small but what do i need to receive the signal.

S-video "In"? Are you sure? I'm not checking the specifications of alienware aurora but usually the s-video it's "Out". If you want to capture the output form another pc you should pick another option like an external usb capture card. There are a lot of things in the market from cheap to very expensive. I have a cheap one and it works i only just have to take care because of a very small delay in the pictures.

the aurora has both s-video IN and OUT. the thing is i bought the machine with the presumption that i wouldn't need to buy an external devive. Alienware havent been helpful at all with my queries.

thanks for the replies
s-video out works fine
i did imagine there would be something on the laptop to configure the connection but nothing.
i've simply tried connecting my handycam and tried connecting the s-video out of another laptop but no luck trying to find the signal.
i do notice that the s-video in connector has 7 pins.
on the american aurora there is a ntsc card installed on the machine and i'm thinking that the connection is useless on the european models.

thanks
