where do the restrictions lie in the quality of the streamed video? is it down to processing power for decoding the video?, data transfer times to retrieve it from the disk? or the speed/amount of RAM?
After reading cTrix's message on RAMDisk, the software for using RAM as storage for video files, I thought this may be the best way of retrieving stored video, as it will far outstrip any hard drive speeds including a RAID array. But apparently, because RAMDisk is software based it will cane the CPU in comparison to the hardware retrieval of files from the hard disk.
Thinking about it, using a dual processor machine , which uses one processor for the OS/RAMDisk, and the other for resolume, with plenty of RAM so video can be stored and accessed a lot faster than using hard drives seems to be the best solution.
is there support for dual processors / accessing video from RAM in resolume? or is all of this irrelevant because of some other factor which will restrict the performance / decoding of the video?
respect to the team at resolume, by far the best vj software i have come across.
