Hi there. I am fairly new to vj'ing and love resolume. I want to build my own vj desk. On this desk i want to have 3 mounted 7" Lcd screens to diaply each layer, then a monitor showing the preview matrix. Last of all there will be my main output. Is this possible? I know that you can specify each layers output properties but how many outputs does resolume support?
I understand i will probably need to buy 3 usb -> vga adapters to do this but i dont want to spend all the money if its not going to work.
My setup Plan:
Layer1 -> 7" Lcd [Number 1]
Layer2 -> 7" Lcd [Number 2]
Layer3 -> 7" Lcd [Number 3]
Preview Matrix -> 17" CRT Screen
Main Output (VGA Out on Laptop) -> Projector

Can you give a description of your laptop.
I know that Windows supports up to 10 external screens. You want to use 5 different outputs, but for i know there are no laptops with 5 different outputs, so for what i see using the usb to vga is your only solution.
Resolume detects your video outputs and gives options for the output (fullscreen, layer 1,2,3 etc.), i have tested it succesfully up to 2 external screen (other TFT and a beamer). So in theory Resolume should work with 5 external video-outputs.
The question now is if there is anybody who has tested resolume (succesfully) with more than 2 external screens?

Hmmm...
The problem with using a laptop (Sony PCG GRT915M) is that it only outputs 2 video signals, 1 the standard 15pin vga and then the 4head "3.5 jack (vga and sound), so thoretically i only need another 3 outputs.
I am just reluctant to invest into the dream VJ setup, before i know it works. Maybee someone at the resolume help desk can help? i have tried emailing them but had no reply yet.
Bart?

Right ok. Looks like im going to have to invest into a shuttle computer or something simmilar. As for viewing resolume on my monitor, surely this will utilise one output? This will therfore only allow me to run two seperate outputs for previewing each of the two layers instead of three, as i wiill only then have one left for the projector. Are you saying resolume only supports four outputs plus an additional output for the resolume interface or will i only be able to view two indipendent layers plus one for the projector and one for resolume gui? Please help
