VGA output laptop

Post by Leiber »

What's the best way to get my signal to a beamer a couple of meters away?

I guess the best solution (quality) would be a long VGA cable, but I think that would be expensive. We could use a 'tulip'-cable (composite), but then I should have a converter of some kind, because I only have a VGA-screen output.

Maybe a videocard with a proper s-video or something? Or a converter of some kind (if anything like that exists).

I would like to hear alle possible solutions... Thanks!

either a card with a proper s-video out, or there are tons of converters to change vga to a number of other outputs - they run anywhere from $40-$300 usd depending on how feature packed you want it. They are mostly marketed under either office presentation tools or as an addon to play your computer games on a tv... look around, they are quite common.

Hi,

What i use in Portugal is BNC cable (like old cable network) and use a BNC to composite adapter that conects to my composite to s-video adapter to connect to my laptop. It was recommended because it's what video and image professionals use in there line of work and we can notice that when we use video projectors of big capacity (5500 lumens and more) they all have bnc input connection. I know that isn't the perfect option but it's very cheap and i havent any problems using long cables.
When i have small party gig's i just add another BNC to composite adapter to connect to regular home entertainement video projector.

The only thing I've found so far, is a VGA to 5xBNC adapter and a VGA to 3xcomposite (RGB). I don't think that's the proper solution. I would like to find a simple VGA to composite (yellow 'tulip') adapter.

And i think i've just found one here (dutch). This is it.

On the new(er) laptops and beamers you have HDMI, wich I think is a really good quality.

i think HDMI cables are even more expensive then vga.

my brothers nvidia 6800 has component out (rgb) so then your 'tulip' cable solution would work.

I've just brought a projector that does upto 1024x768, plenty for resolume and even a a DVB-T in car box (really small).

Brought a 10 meter VGA Cable from maplins which was £40 but its gold plated and very good cable. S-Video caused me some problems but all gone using VGA

Yes, But i live in rip off britain!!! And it is high end one. Things in the US & Europe do end up 15-40%+ cheaper. i.e my laptop, £2,500 here, I paid £1,550 inc P&P from the US. Import cost £90, told the guy put £399 refurb on the parcel. Only blag is the keyboard is US and seems to have no backslash for some weird reason lol. No problem though really. Only used for net websites really. Plus a external UK Keyboard fixes that.

Theres only japan i believe that costs more than the UK. Pack of ciggeretes in the UK, £5.85! Most of that tax!!! Cost of owning a car and what not is ridiculas. Petrol, £1.02 a litre!!! Compare that to minimium wage <21 = £4.80 hour >21 = £5.55 hour. an average 2.2 house is around £120,000 and thats not the size of houses you have in the US!!!

Hate to go on but as much as i love(d) this country, its going down the pan. We were an empire at one point, brought stability to other countrys. Granted we did some horrible things in the proccess but so did everyone else. Not forgetting the slaughter of native americans for the USA!!! We thoght back the germans twice, Although if you check up on that the germans meant no arm the the british empire if anybody bothered to look at the evidence thats available such as the diaries of the second in command!!! They respected the strengh and might of us. Now what? We litterally let anybody in, Give them out jobs, women, houses & money! And thats just the ones we know about!!! Dont get me wrong, im not raciest, trust me. I just think there should be tight regulations for who is and isnt alowwed in the UK. Not just because the EU say we must!!! Then again, we elect these idiots into power so who's to blame i suppose....

In my local town center,(Sunny!) Stoke On Trent, the cameras have been upgraded so not just as the UK got the most CCTV Cameras in the world, But they also spying on your conversations now. Goverment spend billions on this!!! And they wonder why people are losing respect and faith! They tell us how to bring up our children, What we can and cant do. Its non of there god damn business. Now with rules as such as your not allowed to touch your child we have 11/12/13 year old kids knowing there nothing parents or the police can do so they have a licence to do what they want! And with them not been disaplined as children & the current garbage on TV we wonder where its going wrong!!!

SORRY!!! NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SUBJECT!!! haha. I do go on sometimes :/ But UK is very expensive. And falling to pieces! Look at me sounding like an old man already haha. Only 24 :/

/Rant over
