Hi!
i tried my best not to post this thread, because its obviously one of those " omg nothing works" threads, but i cant fix this problem, so pls help.
I've read the manual several times.
I've browsed the forum. No luck.
Firts of all here is my what i sort of expected from this program : video playback of custom video files on a projector, which are automatically synchronised to the input's current bpm.
the input sound is correctly detected, the audio ftt bars are moving, i hear a sound, the sound card is correctly enabdled, the audio-in channel is not muted, but the videos dont move at the sound's bpm. no black screen, but the visuals move at the default fps. i tryed moving the gain and fall bars, no luck.
ok, lets set it manually then, i've downloaded version 2.4x, checked the fancy bpm option, set the bpm by tapping, still the visuals' speed only change when i adjust the bpm bar next to them. (at the channel view)
this can't be right. first of all call me whatever you want, but i dont want to set the bpm by tapping. if theres is no autodetection, so be it, but please me how to enable the bpm option.
i provide the hardware and software information :
os: Microsoft Windows XP Professional sp2
cpu: amd athlon x2 4600+
ram : 2g @ 800
DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)
thank you
BPM not working
Hi,
Resolume doesn't auto detect the BPM from the incoming audiosignal.
You can tap in the BPM or listen to Midi clock signals. The last option enables you to sync with audio software like Ableton. Ask the D.J for his clock (if he uses one) and ther you go.
The audio FFT you see has nothing todo with the BPM, the FFT can be used to link effect and other parameters to the sound peaks.
If you want a clip to listen to the BPM right click it and select the BPM button to set it in this mode. If you shift click on this button all clips in the current deck will be set to BPM mode.

In the Dj equipment, the is a led screen that shows you the BPM. you can ask him at the moment you want yo syncronize the visulas to the BPM... But check the number at the topo of the BPM screen right next to the layer, this number tell the opacity to drop or to raise.... the default number is 4... I still couldn´t use it like I wish..... but I think practice is the key.

The only way to get a midi clock signal from a dj is to connect a hardware bpm analyser like the Red Sound Soundbite micro to the output of the audio mixer, and feed the midi clock to the machine running Resolume. It has push and pull buttons to nudge the bpm in time with the audio and even a sampler built in I think. Some of the more expensive cd decks like the Pioneer and Denons may have midi clock outputs but i'm not sure. Dj's using timecode vinyl systems like Serato can output midi from the computer running the software. The best solution is to just tap every so often and assign buttons or knobs to the bpm value to nudge it into sync, when you feel it is slipping over time press the resync button on bar 1 to start again with the current tempo.
