Low light high res cameras ?

I used my sony camcorder for years and it had the same issue with turning off... I learned that if you leave the tape door open that the camera will stay on... Got me through countless live events... to be fair, i was using svideo output rather than firewire, not sure if that would make a difference or not.

Let the cam without tape for stay on.
