Help needed with resolume and files please!!!

Post by opticalucination »

Hello Resolume users,
I've been searching through the forum pages and im not having much luck finding what im looking for so i was wondering if I could get some straight to the point answers from someone.
Basically I have these few questions,
What format do the clips need to be in and whats the best converter to use?
What size should the files be for good play-back?
What exactly is a codec and do I need one?
If someone could help me with these questions I would be extremely greatful.
Thank you,
Mike (opticalucination)
Thanks again

it deppends.. what resolution do you want to use? what are your computer specs etc etc. mostly people usei Mpeg2 or Avi Cinipak. you can also buy a codec from the Resolume store PICvideo M-JPEG Codec v3. i havent used it myself, but i have read good press on it.

What size should the files be for good play-back?
this depends on your hardware. you have to consider file size, hard drive speeds, cpu overheads, and qualitly when making your clips.

a codec 'encode decode" is what translates the video. yes you need one, and there are many different types.
