Massive scale depending what you want to do,
but to start simple I would choose after effects or maya if you want to learn animation.

I recomend Adobe Prem, After Effects, Photoshop, 3D Studio Max.

Like people have been saying there are plenty of choices out there, it just depends on what u want to Do.
