Students at the University of Washington have come up with some brain-warping methods of using still photographs or modifications to a single video frame to work magic upon captured video. (As an example, by interpolating from an SLR photo, they are able to dramatically up-sample video shot of the same scene. As another, they are able to remove image-occluding objects -- in the sample video, a street sign -- from a video and recreate the background.)
Fascinating stuff. Applicable to VJing? Who knows -- but certainly worth carrying around in the back of one's head.
