Mask causing darker image

I found another issue.
When I apply a mask to a clip or a layer (PNG oder JPG image with 100% white and 100% black parts) the part of the videoclip which passes the mask gets darker. I can't really measure it but it's maybe 10% loss of brightness.

i have to agree on that issue...

definiatly a luminance drop when the mask is applied

Yes we can confirm this, it's on our todo.

How do you apply a mask to the video?... Can you have video masks or just photo?

You can apply masks at a clip or a layer. Look at the properties panel there is an entry called mask. Just drop your mask image here. As I know only still images can be used as masks.
