Hi,
It's great being able to have control over clips with "beat snap" , "clip target" and "triggerstyle."
But is there any way to control how quickly a clip fades in and out when triggering it with the "piano" triggerstyle? I am using MIDI to trigger both audio (from Ableton and Reason) and video in Resolume Avenue.
Sometimes the audio I am triggering has slow releases and reverb... like pads and strings. The video clip needs to fade out slowly when I release the midi key or it looks disconnected from the audio.
Thanks for any feedback.

clip fade in / fade out
Re: clip fade in / fade out
This is not possible in Resolume 3 Beta rev990 but the next beta will have an opacity for every clip so that should make it a bit easier.

Re: clip fade in / fade out
Is clip fade in\fade out a part of the piano trigger mode?
That would be really great if it is.

Re: clip fade in / fade out
Hi Bart,
Thank you for your reply. Opacity control would be very nice for every clip. With this in mind, it would be extremely useful to performers of midi music+video if there will be a way to set the fade time (analagous to the release time for an audio amplitude envelope) instead of just having a midi-mappable opacity slider/knob.
I am playing midi controllers in a band live and I need to be able to play with both hands... triggering midi notes that are playing audio (from Ableton) and video (from Resolume). I won't have an extra hand to turn up/down opacity so these piano triggered clip fade in/fade outs need to be set for each clip and then left alone.
If you offer this feature, I will be incredibly happy... because IMHO this is the future of music... seeing the sounds... and that means making the audio and video envelopes in sync.
At the very least, there should be a global fade out for all clips... this is a feature in Arkaos 3.6.... a global opacity fade out set in milliseconds in general preferences. It takes the edge off the harsh cut to black when sending a midi note off message to clips. Arkaos took this feature out of GrandVJ. In my opinion GrandVJ is a mess which has led me to embrace Resolume.... but I digress
I do have one other major issue I have come across with Resolume Avenue. Bouncing does not work in bpm sync mode for a clip of just video. The clip must also contain audio. This is a big problem for me. I am a major fan of running Resolume off a midi clock.... just awesome power... but one of the most obvious ways for an audience to see the connection between audio and video is by having video bounce to the bpm. Right now I can work around this issue by creating dummy audio clips that are the same length of the video clips. But as you can imagine that's a lot of wasted energy. Please fix this
In closing, keep up the great work. You are also building strong customer loyalty by having developers interact with the users.
All the best,
Alan

Re: clip fade in / fade out
We are thinking about putting envelopes in Avenue that you can draw yourself so you can animate a parameter any way you want over the duration of the clip. This will not yet be in the next Beta 2 version though.alan wrote:... and that means making the audio and video envelopes in sync.

Yes we know, this will be fixed in Beta 2.Bouncing does not work in bpm sync mode for a clip of just video. The clip must also contain audio.
We will! We love making Resolume ... most of the timeIn closing, keep up the great work. You are also building strong customer loyalty by having developers interact with the users.

Awesome - that would be an amazing facility - bring it on!bart wrote:We are thinking about putting envelopes in Avenue that you can draw yourself so you can animate a parameter any way you want over the duration of the clip. This will not yet be in the next Beta 2 version though.
