Resolume Midi Sync Question

Post by Rick L »

I'm just trying to slave Resolume's video to the BPM of Traktor 3 on a Macbook. I Just can't seem to get the Resolume to clock sync. I must be missing something.... Any help with instructions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!!!

You could try to use MIDIYOKE (it will route MIDI signals in your computer between applications).
In combination with MIDIOX you can easy find out what signals where to route.

I think Rick uses OSX so MIDIYOKE won't be of any help.
OSX has a build in version of MIDIYOKE which enables users to oute the MIDI signal between applications.
Rick, how did you setup teh MIDI settings for Traktor and Resolume.

Thanks for the responses...Yeah I have the IAC Driver in the Macbook which is similar to midi yolk I presume. I just cant get Resolume slaved from Traktor. The Bpm doesnt change so I guess I have something hooked up wrong somewhere. Tractor has send midi clock and there's also the Native Instruments Virtual Output that's kinda confusing me.

I read a bit about the IAC driver on OSX... it seems indeed a bit the same as MIDIyoke... (for PC)

With (MIDIyoke) or the IAC driver on OSX you first have to create one, or more virtual MIDI ports...
When created these virtual MIDIports you choose in Traktor one of these virtual ports to send MIDI to (MIDI out)
In Resolume you have to set the same virtual MIDI port as input (MIDI in)

It took me some trial and error with MIDIyoke on my system.. but it works now!
I don't know if there is some sort of diagnostic MIDI tool for OSX (like MIDIox for PC) that's really handy to look where your MIDI signals are going in and out the system...

I don't think you have to do anything with the Native Instrumenst virtual port (it sounds that something from Traktor itself)... but maybe that is already one of the virtual ports from the IAC driver..?! Just try.. when connected the virtual midiports to Resolume correctly you'll see it imediatly changing the clock speed.

Hi guys !
I have Traktor Pro on a PowerBook with an external midi controleur and Resolume 2.2 on a PC laptop with XP. Is it possible to sync (via midi clock = BPM) resolume (as slave) to traktor pro (as master) and to configure the crossfader and sliders to resolume ? Is it also possible with Resolume Avenue ? thanks vj selector

hey guy

midi-ox is cool.
but you can do it even simpler, i use the free util midiclock to sync everything through midiyoke drivers.
Just check it out at http://www.midiclock.com, it has two outputs so you can route one internally
(through midiyoke) and one to you external midi bus.

anyway, good luck
