converting recorded clip

i have the problem with media player 8 and 9....

i did not have any problems converting a clip marco send me. I did it with virtualDub.

Bart: is the media player 9 installed on your machine?
If not try to convert the file on a clean machine with a recent (updated) version 9.
It seems this problem is related to the VFW codecs: some of the new versions WON't work in Virtual Dub. I'm not sure wich versions coz I will never reinstall or update the Windows Media Player again for this reason. It looks like WM player updates some VFW codes, the old ones are not available at Microsoft.

Bart/Edwin: maybe it's a good idear to publish a list of problem free codec's with version and file dates on this site.

i use premiere and it works fine... it only seems to insert a black frame at the beggining, i am currently trying to figure out how to take it off, because it doesn let me preview the click as thumbnails, because the first frame is blank..

any ideas?
