soft edge multiscreen
I've searched all over for any mention of this in resolume to no avail. This software would actually be perfect for what I need to do with involves a show with a multiscreen setup (where the screens are overlapping but not fully in line with each other. Unfortunately there's no way of blending edges as far as I can see. Any suggestions? Some kind of system where you apply it per screen on any edge would be good. cheers..
Re: soft edge multiscreen
there isnt anything at the moment that would let you do that.
but you could make a mask in photoshop, and apply it to the layer mask, so any clip you put on it would have the blur.

It is possible with some messing about but you really need some simple way of adjusting the masks while you're in the program (for gamma etc). Otherwise you'd have to keep going back and forth between photoshop and resolume trying to find the perfect mask curve every time you set it up. which might not be ideal when there's not much time to get up and running...
Re: soft edge multiscreen
with the effect "Vignette" you get a blurry rounded edge, looks like an old tv screen
parameters should be enough
otherwise a mask from photoshop shoult do it, maybe in a bigger resolution with bigger edge, so you can fit in into the right position in resolume

Hi there, vignette would be totally inappropriate for softedge. In case you're not quite clear how soft edge blends are supposed to work here's a good paper on the subject (including info on why the gamma adjustment is important.)

I did manage to do something with image masks, but like I said it's very fiddly getting the mask right so the edge is invisible. Not really practical, TBH.
cheers

The other problem of course is that just fading out the edges of the separate clips is not enough - you need to add the overlapping edge from the next clip as well.
I ended up pre-rendering the edge-blending (and distortion correction) into an 8 channel project that just went live (http://villamil.org/?p=621), the procedure was basically to take the original, super wide, footage separate it into 8 channels with a scale function applied so each channel would include 5% of the channels on either side, apply the distortion and edge blend masks, then recombine it before sending it out as 2x 3 channel segments and 1x 2 channel segments.
Very fiddly process however. Having precise control over the edge mask is crucial. We ended up with a combination of undermasking (so overlaps are a bit brighter) then physically masking/taping the projector lenses.
That said, I wonder how feasible it would be to add this to Resolume. It's certainly not impossible, and could fit within the existing UI paradigm. Perhaps add a master, "pre-projection" effect layer.
