Layer blends at the clip level

Post by vjloco »

I am quoting below an email i sent you that you answered. It's unclear to me whether I can set the layer blend at the clip level in the current version. I see that there is a layer blend with the EFFECT but I don't see a way to set the clip to a particular layeer blend within the composition.

You answered: "We will probably not do this on the column level but on the clip
level so you can set the blend mode for each clip individually instead
of always having to use the layer blend mode."

Yes just use the opacity slider at the clip and it does what you want (I think :-)

Ok, I don't think i'm explaining what I am looking for.
Let's say I have a clip in the deck. I want that clip to ALWAYS have a DIFFERENCE blend in the composition layer. In other words EVERY TIME I select that clip to put in layer 1, 2 or 3, I want it to have a DIFFERENCE blend NO MATTER WHICH BLEND IS ORIGINALLY SELECTED IN THE COMPOSITION LAYER.
This way I can create columns that have a specific set of LAYER BLENDS that will go with that column.

Sounds like you want the ability to select the blending mode at clip level, with the default option being "Use layer blending mode"

That would be a nice feature, but it would have the problem that often a different opacity level is needed to make a blending mode look good (especially the case with luma key). I guess the clip opacity would have to replace the layer opacity when a clip level blending mode was in operation on the layer.

This would need a bit of thinking through from the Resolume guys to make sure it doesn't introduce more problems but it would be nice to have somewhere down the road.

Dan.
