I'd probably opt for Windows Vista or XP as I'm on Dell hardware and I don't want to take the risk of any lack of hardware support/driver trouble as it might be more likely to occur if I installed some Mac OS or Linux distro.
To be a bit more precise: The laptop I'm using is a XPS M1530, 2.5 GHZ core2 duo (T9300), 4 GB RAM, GeForce 8600M GT and a 200GB internal hd spinning 7200 times per minute..
Plans are to completely format the hd and make a separate partition just for the use of resolume.
My questions are: What OS is going to offer the most stable and reliable system? I guess that hardware support from dell is probably better for Vista, although it definitely is possible to run XP on this laptop...would the performance be that much better that it'd be worth messing around with getting drivers and everything for XP?
And what do I have to take care of when installing/afterwards in order to make the system stable/fast?
