Now that I'm getting all my nice freshly DXV encoded clips into R3, Im trying to figure out the best way to select them 'live'.
In R2 I used the top switched knobs on my BCR2000 to select the 8 banks, then the laptop keyboard (or now Korg NanoKey) for the clips.
In R3, what I've got is:
Deck selection via the Korg NanoPad (12 pads).
Clip selection from the white keys on the Korg NanoKey (15) and layer selection using a group of the black keys (3-5).
I know I can select a 'column' but this means only the clips in that column.
Now with the clip select keys set, this selects from the currently active row in the clip top panel (usually) into the active layer (selected with another key).
What I want to do, is navigate the clip panel with an external (midi) keyboard - selecting a row in the clip panel, then selecting a clip to go into the active layer panel on the left.
Does this make sense?
That way I can just use the midi controllers for switching decks/layers/clips for changing clips, rather than having to use the mouse pointer.
Just a thought... Is it also possible to edit the keyboard/midi assignments as in R2? That actually made a lot of sense to me!

Incidentally, the M7 that I use is in fact a tablet PC, which does actually work really well with the R3 interface, although 'writing' with it for 8 hours for a night does lead to stiff fingers. Not to mention the possibility of losing the pen in the gunk that accumulates on most club floors!

But I'd still rather use the midi controller knobs and buttons instead...
