hi (out)there
does anybody have any experience using apple prores codec in resolume avenue?
DXV is almost unusable for me because it would take so long to convert all my videos to DXV that maybe i would be dead then (and my macbookpro too for sure)..
it works for me for a while but i need some longer experience before i start to convert all my vids.
prores can handle alpha and is almost losless ...
so??

We don't have any experience yet with the prores codec.
What you can do is convert some clips to the different codecs, DXV, Prores, Animation codec, and do a comparison.
Check the quality and framerate and base your decision on that.

I'd be very interested in the results of such a test: I used ProRes for an installation project recently, and the performance was stunning, to say the least. We got about 3x the framerate that was possible with PhotoJPEG @ 75%, with much better quality.
There is some speculation that ProRes uses the GPU for some aspects of decoding. It is certainly very effective at handling multiple cores.
