Res Avenue support for Quadro FX Go1400

Post by digital:snot »

I have an old Prostar laptop with a 256mb Quadro FX Go1400 videocard.
3gig ram and p4 3.6ghz and 2 sata hardrives - (one of those monsters that you can heat your house with the heat output) :)

thought i would toss the demo of Avenue on it to see how it would perform.

unfortunately when i open Ave, I get the "Video engine couldn't start!" dialog box.

specs wise, the Go1400 videocard seems to be higher than the min system requirement of: "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 or better."

video card info here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Qua ... 140.0.html

are the specs not up to par for Ave?
I was curious if the video card was simply to obscure, as it was only put in high-end mobile workstation-laptops back in 2005... so maybe Ave isn't recognizing it as a usable video card even though it might technically be up to the task.

any thoughts?

might be worth giving the omega drivers a go. ive seen a couple of graphics cards that wont run avenue with the native drivers, but do with the omega drivers.

currently running omega driver 1.6693

according to the readme for the latest nvidia omegadriver: v2.169.21
there is no laptop support, so i haven't tried the latest driver.
has anyone else tried the latest driver on their laptop(s) without issue?
