Anyone have a Midi Controller they just love to use with Resolume?

What is the ultimate controller(s) for use with resolume?

Thought I'd start out with what I've seen:

The BitStream Pro from http://www.waveidea.com excites me in a way only a woman should - it's a sweet controller ;)

The Evolution UC33 is a pretty sexy box, and alot cheaper than the BitStream (tho the BitStream looks more solid) http://www.evolution.co.uk/moreinfo/hardware/uc33.htm

The ultimate however would have to be the Midiman Surface One (http://www.midiman.net/products/midiman/surfaceone.php) Vaporware however. :(

Well I thought I saw that midiman controller for sale at novamusik.com but no, I guess not.

Well I hate to share the secret but sharing seems to be helpfull more often then not. I'm using the Novation Remote25, and its fully customizable. Go look for it at (http://novationmusic.com).

Also I've developed an unhealthy desire for the oft delayed Edirol UR-80. It will be released soon and has some serious potiential. This is at, you guessed it, (http://www.edirol.com). Look in their midi controller section.

These aren't pro-quality devices by any means but are more than adequate for my hobbiest needs. Gl everyone. Keep the great ideas coming.

We currently use a standard midi keyboard along with a set of 16 midi sliders.

We have just bought a Mixman DM2 with the intention of using it with Resolume (with the help of the excellent DM2/Midi hack)

Those turntables look like they'll be fun!

Hi boys and girls,
looking for the perfect MIDI controller for visuals? then forget anything like a piano keyboard. Why? it's just shit to stay with your hand pressed on a key for hours, if you can easily loose your loops and who needs to play chords?
What you want is a 2D lockable switch matrix such as the Video Switchboard designed and used by Pointless Creations (Glasgow).
check the Pointless site:

and previous MIDI experimental design projects

Hmm.. the switchbox looks kinda cool, but I have a real dislike of companies that:

a) Go around sticking their advert on discussion forums
b) Make out that all other options are crap compared to their product.

If you knew resolume, the software that this forum is for, you would know that you don't need to hold the keys down - loops play until another loop is activated on that channel (assuming loop mode is on) or they play to the end of the clip.

If you had played with other visuals software such as VJamm or Midivid, you would know that chords can actually be really useful in some styles of VJing.

Mentioning a relevent product is one thing, but when you clearly have no knowledge of the topic of the discussion, it comes across a bit like spamming...

We've got our DM2 now and I have to say that, with the DM2Midi hack, it is a fantastic controller for resolume.

We haven't worked out what to use the joystick for yet, but the scatch turntables are fantastic and the buttons arew a nice bonus too.

Dan: i see your point, but i saw these guys demonstrate their kit in bristol a few months ago, and they couldn't have been more helpful in advice and attitude. We all seem to be agreeing that midi is the way forward for our performances, and these guys have been building custom midi devices for years out of what they find. I guarantee that you'd enjoy seeing how they build devices into old cassette players etc, it seemed to me at the time that they understood what a vj needed, because they are vj's themselves. I just wish i had the cash to get them to build a device....................

Like I said, the device sounds interesting, it was just that the post put me off. It didn't sound like they were trying to understand how resolume works and so how their controller would work with it.

Spam is still spam even if it is for the best product in the world.
