Silly Question?
Silly Question?
I have been using resolume since version 1.5 and it's been fine. I now have version 3.1 but it will not run on my laptop. I get the message saying something like the graphics card is not high enough spec to run the software. The laptop I have is pretty decent and not that old (Toshiba dual core.) It does not have either the ATI or Nvida graphics cards, but has the common Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Ultra Mobile. I can't get any Omega drivers for this card either. Is there any way that I can get this software to run on this laptop or should I forget trying to run it and buy a new laptop?
Re: Silly Question?
Sorry, Just answered my own question, from the FAQs:
Resolume 3 does not work on the integrated Intel graphics processors you find in many (cheap) laptops.
Shame becuase lots of laptops have this chipset and not all cheap ones.

Re: Silly Question?
polestar, i'm a long time user of resolume as well, and initially i had the same reservation about the video card requirement/"limitation"
but the fact is, resolume3 is such a significant revolution in high resolution, multi-screen media manipulation that it simply could not be possible with integrated graphics.
so it isn't a "shame" really.
as long as resolume held on to CPU based rendering instead of GPU based rendering, it would simply be impossible to come close to the capabilities of resolume3.
now resolume harnesses the full power of a midrange+ video card and turns vjing into essentially a video-manipulation video game.
with a triplehead2go i can run media on 3 screens at perfect 1024x768 size clips x 3... even play video that is 1920x480(stretched to fit) at 60fps
all on a relatively old laptop: asus g1s - 3gb ram - 2.19ghz processor - 256mb geforce 8600M GT videocard. winxp pro. and upgraded hardrive to intel X25-M 80gb SSD
with the exception of the x25 SSD, you can score this laptop on ebay for $500-$700... small price to pay for what is now possible in resolume avenue.
so just as a primer to those who might dislike the videocard requirements, avenue is a next generation vj program and needs a modest $1000+ gamer laptop to achieve live video composting that a $5000 desktop with resolume 2.4 can't come close to.
