Midivid + WindowsXP + dual monitor + fullscreen = CRASH??

Hi there. I've been running into problems with Resolume crashing when mixing several of my clips. After a bit of playing around, it's looking like it's only doing it on Midivid encoded clips (did a few Cinipak clips and they worked fine.)

Here's the story - Dell Ispiron 8000 running windows xp home edition with NVidia GForce2Go drivers version 6.14.10.4425, directx9. Fire up Resolume, kick it into dual monitor, full screen mode, mix some clips and Resolume crashes out to the desktop. Not pretty.

Only does it in full screen mode (640x480), and seems to be happening only since I put XP on the lappy (it's a work machine, so I haven't been running Resolume on it a great deal).

Any ideas? I'll experiment with different codec combinations a bit more and see if it's a Midivid thing, but I really don't want to have to re-encode my collection!

This is something that I had hoped 1.5 would fix, and it's really the main thing holding me back from buying Resolume (that and lack of funds)

Any hope for the Abominable VJ?

if it's mostly happening on midivid clips perhaps it is the codec and you might have to do the re-encode thing.
Try some flash movies on their own and a bunch of cinepak movs or indeo avis on their own and see if it crashes.
Also try win2k ; )
(sorry - i have a personal gripe with XP)
otherwise try all the other usual things, new drivers, etc

Played around with the codes further last night - definatly looks like a Midivid thing.

Did a bunch of clips in Midivid, Indeo5 and Cinepak. Indeo and Cinepak worked fine, but as soon as I play the Midivid files it crashes and burns.

I've even done a reinstall of XP a couple of months ago, and I was getting this problem before and after the reinstall. Looks like it's time to convert some files!

Anyone know a good way of re-encoding a directory tree of clips?

I use Virtualdub mostly, but it's such a pig for doing large numbers of files. Might have to hack into the virtualdub.jobs file.

premiere will batch convert a folder of movies - only problem is it puts "proc" after the file name to show it's been porcessed, eg. "trains.avi" becomes "trainsproc.avi"

Use RadVideo tool for converting clips. You can resize the clips. Will even convert .mov to Cinepak .avi. I never use midivid. Too buggy.

to batch convert with premiere, go to project>utilities>batchProcessing, add a folder full of clips, set your codec options, set an output folder for your renders and process.
