Fps delay \ program slowliness when uploading clips

Post by masterdamus »

ive noticed when im loading clips to resolume, the output is loosing frames like crasy.
even when changing between decks \ compositions, or going between the 3 banks.

im using:
PC running windows xp.
7200rpm sata2 HD
core2duo 3ghtz
2gb of ram
geforce 8600gt with latest drivers

video codec:
picvideo: MJPEG v3, @ 19% quality for years.
640x480 clip resolution.

had none of these problems with: resolume 2.41, xnth, or grandvj.

once ive loaded all my new vids in the layers, there is no problem...
but i would like to fix this, as my vj process requires me to add clips from my database as i go, and not count only on fixed presets\decks i make before.

what seems to be the cause of this? and whats the best fix for it?
different codec? using DXV? (tried and tested already... not much difference)

your feedback can lead to a solution for us all, thank you for your help :)

We've been working hard on this issue and the next release will include some fixes to prevent the playing video to be interrupted when loading new files or switching decks.

thanx for the reply. hoping for good results from you.

ive recently also tested the dxv codec, nice results (a bit less sharp then the mjpeg but good performence all in all).

i tried x5 640x480 movies, and x2 1080p movies in DXV, and it worked In avarage of 30fps on a lower spec machine (2ghtz core2duo + geforce 8400GS) and it worked like my bigger boy (quad core 3ghtz, Geforce 9600gt).

nice work. still the uploading is problematic during shows. but hey - i trust your next release will do the trick
(i think David green from pixel addikts fixed it on his server already).

besides, i noticed some problems with newly encoded avi - picvideo files.
i see black on half the screen, only happens in Resolume 3.
any reasons for that?

ill send you the file tomorrow for checking.

hey,
any update on this?
the 3.1.3 release is meant to speed up deck switching but i'm still getting major slowdowns when switching decks,
i hope theres an easy fix for this as it's all thats stopping me from buying the software and using it at gigs.

We definately speeded up the deck switching and saving. Maybe it still takes a while when switching decks but it should interrupt the playback much less than it did before.
