Hi,
I've been using Res3 a little differently lately, as a live audio tool to trigger loops for a band and planning to add video to the show later.
I've found the best way to do this is use a composition as a 'set' and decks as individual musical pieces or 'songs'. The only problem is for each deck/song the master tempo needs to be changed manually. I'd love to be able to assign different tempos to decks.
Another option would be to have a beat-snap mode that worked at clip level, ignoring master tempo and only changing to the triggered clip once the current one has finished playing. I'm surprised this isn't already implemented actually or maybe I'm missing something?
This mode of working also leads me to comment on the lack of different time signature support than 4/4 which is quite restrictive creatively.. for musicians at least.
I know a lot of people probably just use Ableton for this type of thing but I think Resolume could actually be quite an elegant and flexible live audio tool too.
cheers!

Re: audio beat snapping for musicians
Not quite the way we figured most people would use this function, but I can see this being useful in your case. I'm not quite sure how we can implement it, but we'll look into it.The only problem is for each deck/song the master tempo needs to be changed manually. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, but you can set the beat snap for individual clips in the settings of the clip properties tab (little cogwheel drop down in the top right of the tab)Another option would be to have a beat-snap mode that worked at clip level
If it's not 4/4 people can't dance to it anywayThis mode of working also leads me to comment on the lack of different time signature support than 4/4 which is quite restrictive creatively.. for musicians at least.

Thanks for your comments!

What you are talking about sounds like the follow actions you have in Ableton Live, this is certainly something we will implement but it will take a while before we will have the time to do so.rawbonevideo wrote:Another option would be to have a beat-snap mode that worked at clip level, ignoring master tempo and only changing to the triggered clip once the current one has finished playing.
