About Windows 7...

Post by Efrem »

Hi, I have begun to use Resolume 3 with Windows 7 on my desktop PC from about 1 month (before I used the 2.41 with XP).
I have partitioned the principal HHD (WD Raptor) and installed Windows 7-32 bit.
After the installation of the OS, I have installed (in this order):

- Driver Motherboard (automatically downloaded)
- Driver Video Card
- Driver Sound Card
- MidiYoke
- Mozilla Firefox 3.5
- Apple Quicktime 7
- Adobe Flash CS4 (without the installation of the complete software, Resolume 3 don't read my SWF files. It seems that the Flashplayer is not enough)
- Driver Korg + Editor Korg
- Bome's Midi Translator

Unfortunately after a few hours of use (4-5) also Resolume 3, as the 2.41 on XP, gradually begin to "forget" the midi maps and the effects setting; and maintains an average of crash of around 1 every 2 hours (that for a Windows user isn't much :D, but it is annoying however).
It seems that, as the VJ, also the software feels the tiredness after many hours of nonstop use...

I think that it can depend on some setting of the OS and I would like to know what is the better way to set Windows 7 to maintain the most stable possible Resolume 3.
For example, what services it is better to disable; if it is better to disable the Windows Defender or the Windows indexing files, etc. etc. ...

Thanks in advance

hey,

maybe you should have a look @ my batch:

once you find out which services are causing trouble you can switch them of when starting resolume and restart services when Res is shut down.

I'm also running Windows 7 x64. Services make no difference in stability. Only in fps. Oh and my onboard Realtek HD wouldn't work properly. Lagging every 10 minutes. But who cares > Focusrite Saffire.

If you had to install the full vesion of Adobe Flash CS4, make sure you didn't also install Adobe Drive or Version Cue. Both of those run in the background, and attempt to do stuff periodically that leads to instability.

In the past month I know of several people (including myself) who have fixed various mysterious crashes by removing both of those.

If your computer supports this via a hardware switch, try turning off networking entirely while performing.

If not a hardware switch you could disable the services for networking with the batch i mentioned. I myself do so. That way I have as few processes and services active while running Resolume.
By the way: I had trouble with those ******* apps as well. They are so annoying :x
