I'm looking for a way to span movies / clips across 4 projectors preferably using resolume ?
Is this possible and if so what hardware would you suggest i use ?
I was thinking on going for nvidia SLI or ATI Eyefinity but i don't know and can't test if resolume can span the movie across all 4 screens (i was thinking since ATI Eyefinity treats the entire surface as one screen)
Thanks for reading.

Re: Span Across 4 Projectors ?
ATI 5xxx cards with 4! output ports (2xdvi, 1xhdmi, 1xdisplay port) are limited to 3! outputs. So you would have to get one of these. Unfortunately the card is not available yet
I red that crossfire is problematic in supporting more then the mentioned 3 screens. But I might be wrong on that.

i havnt tested it with avenue, but you can use more than one matrox dual / tripple head to go unit on one machine ( we use 2 th2go's on each of our addict servers to give 6 outs on each machine ) but you do need seperate vga outs for each of the units to be connected to.
bart / edwin / resolume team.... any reports of multiple matrox units being used with avenue?

Re: Span Across 4 Projectors ?
This really depends also on the configuration of the screens - are they all side by side in a 4x1 grid - or 2 x 2 grid.
Last summer I used a machine which utilised 4 screens in a 4x1 grid via 2x768mb nvidia pci-express internal boards - both of which had dual dvi outputs. This setup worked fine for individual frames of footage scaled and dispersed across the 4 screens or one long piece of footage prepped at the full resolution of the screen setup. Aveue handled the screen setups perfectly.
I will track down the spec of the nvidia cards if you are interested - and hopefully at some point in the near future I will try and test the same scenario with multiple matrox dual heads ... and I am confident Resolume will handle this setup fine as long as I can drive them with a powerful enough display adapter to start with.

Re: Span Across 4 Projectors ?
hi, i tried 2x th2g connected to nvidia 280 and gt9600 as a secondary card for user interface. it works fine with 5 displays (5x800x600). i could use 6, but reso is limited to 4096px (ogl texture size limitation afaik, btw is it possible to get rid of this limit?).

the 4 screens span acroxx [] [] [] []
went for the ATI 5700 cards which are nice but
W A T C H O U T
they natively output to only 3 screens And worse of all you need an active adapter - keyword ACTIVE - to output through the Display Port output- also since the HDMI and one DVI share power you CANNOT output to 3 screens via DVI-DVI-HDMI, the only solution is DVI-DVI-DP (with an adapter or native - but good luck spanning that kind of cable across a distance)
so the ATI 570 cards ... good but they have things like these that are not advertised and messed us up pretty good
because active adapters are so hard to find we decided to go for a 3 board solution so we'll pick up another 5700 and a new motherboard to carry all 3...

you can also use a matrox triple head

MainSys: Z77 UP5,3570K,32GB Ram,GTX 285, M3 128GB,4x3TB R5@LSI9750
VJSys 1: 990FX UD5,X6 1045T,16GB Ram,GTX970+610+610,M3 128GB,3x1TB R0
MBP 3.1; Schenker A102 (650m) & P702 (675m)

Re: Span Across 4 Projectors ?
I have a new machine with an ATI HD5870 Eyefinity 6 - its really good for resolume, giving a solid 60FPS (frame locked without any tearing) output can be spread over all 6 screens without any issues + advanced output manager works properly!
The bad side to this card is it uses minidisplayport to fit 6 outputs on the one card, these are quite crappy connections and i'm worried about long term durability. If you want to send DVI then you will need active displayport to dvi adaptors which are hard to find and expensive. However you can use normal VGA adaptors (like you get for the macbook pro) these are easy to find and cost less than £10 each if you shop around. Whilst sending DVI sounds nice unless your rich enough for fibre converters then you won't be able to use it in gigs due to cable length limitations.
Eyefinity is nice - it has extra monitor options which can be creatively used to create groups of screens with spanned content in a far more flexible fashion than the TH2go.
The card seems lots faster than multiple nvidia cards - nvidia always needs to be run in "multiscreen compatibility mode" which causes a big performance hit, Eyfinity works properly at full speed over all the monitors. The driver interface is a bit annoying, but hey its a graphics cards, what do you expect?!

Re: Span Across 4 Projectors ?
Spanning 4 or more works, use matrox triple or dual heads. I am currently running a 6 output system using 2 gfx cards nvidia gts280 (both outputs each go to triple heads) and a 250 for preview. max res 3840x480, can't wait for the max texture size 4096 to go to 8092
.
