spectrum analyzer with FFT

hi guys!
I would like to make an animation to simulate a spectrum analyzer using the FFT.
I thought I put the same image on layer 3 and each image link the FFT function with different frequency filters.
I want to connect a video effect as a wipe and animate the curtain with the FFT function

what do you think is the correct procedure for doing this?

pretty much what you said..

i've done it with the FFsource effect gradients and the hight parameter in the clip control, set them to be controlled via external audio and then use the FFT control to select the band your interested in (Bass, Mid, Top).
