Tip for Thinkpad users - enable Trackpoint scrolling

Post by gpvillamil »

Hey, for those Thinkpad users out there:

You may have noticed that middle-button scrolling with the Trackpoint does not work in Avenue. This can be annoying. However, there is a (partial) fix.

Find the file TP4table.dat, it is probably in c:\Program Files\Lenovo\Trackpoint\tp4table.dat or in c:\Program Files\Synaptics\tp4table.dat

Make a backup copy of it, in case anything goes wrong.

Open Notepad (or your editor of choice) as an Administrator.

Open TP4table.dat (from the program you just launched)

Find the lines that look like this:

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Pass 1 rules (These rules run last)

Add a blank line before the one with all the ;;;; and insert this:

; Resolume Avenue
*,*,Avenue.exe,*,*,*,VkKeys,0,9

Save TP4table.dat

Reboot

Now, when using Resolume Avenue, you should be able to use middle- button Trackpoint scrolling. It does it by emulating key strokes, so you actually have to click in the panel you want to use first (hovering alone is not enough) but at least it works.

Same technique can be used to enable scrolling in Ableton Live too, but use WheelStd instead VkKeys
