Safe clip

Post by vjm »

Is it possible to implement a simple feature where one can specify a single clip (video or image) to load as a "safe clip"? In simple terms, this is a clip (such as event logo or vj name) which can be used between performances and during breaks. Maybe it could also help solve the performance issue when switching decks (though I'm not sure about that... not that technical!). This clip can easily be activated using a single button and instead of fading to black, you fade to this clip when the button is selected.

What do you think?

We usually do just this with the framestore on the switcher that we use to switch between laptops, but it would be interesting to be able to do this within resolume. Often our end process with bands - rather than with Djs when the music is usually continuous - is to freeze the screen as the track ends ( again with the Freeze button on the switcher) and then fade through to our `holding frame` for in between the numbers. The freeze can be done with the Freeze effect on the Global effects, but a dedicated button for both Freeze and Frame would be great as Switchers are killer expensive.

Yep indeed. Its very useful for those small events where you just carry around your laptop and controller and get ready to party! :D

It could also be used as an overlay randomly during the show (having the clip composed with overlay mode instead of alpha for example, like the other layers). Sometimes when clients request this, I have to keep a single layer just for this clip. :(

You could put your "safe clip" in the bottom layer, leave the clips above that in that same column empty. And when you want to jump to the safe clip you trigger that column.

by the way, it would be cool to have the ability to lock layers (like in other softwares)...
so that i won't change the opacity (and clip) on a specific layer(/clip) etc... so maybe layer and clip based!
