Change background colour?

Is there an easy way to do this, without having to use the solid colour source in a separate layer?

I'd like to work with a white background, and am not sure of the best\fastest way to do it.

Any ideas?

Hey Richard

Currently the only way to change the background colour is indeed to have an extra layer with a solid color source. Since the layer only contains a single colour, it shouldn't affect performance too much.
