questions or new features?

Post by denkertje »

I am not sure the following points are things that I just dont know how to do or they could be new features:

-adjust the timing of the automatic A B fader
-trigger a clip by moving the fader. So if I would move the fader from a to b, I would like be to start playing without me having to click it
-would like to be able to find effects quicker by just typing in the first letter
-would like to be able to connect the gain and fall (audio FFT) to the dashboard
-copy/past a few effects the same time, now I am dragging then 1 by one...
-this might be a bug. If I start a composition in a low res, then drag in a solid color. Then raise the composition res in the setting, then raise the with and height of the solid and then save the composition. The next time I open this comp. Resolume didn´t keep the new width and height I typed in
-would like a particle effect were I can texture the particles. I am moving to mac soon so then I can use Quart Composer. But for now?

Thanks for your suggestions Denkertje!
-adjust the timing of the automatic A B fader
This has been requested a few times before, and we're working on it, as well as a few other improvements to the crossfader.
-trigger a clip by moving the fader. So if I would move the fader from a to b, I would like be to start playing without me having to click it
I'm not quite sure what you mean here. In general we try to keep away from very complex or specific features, as we try to keep Resolume as intuitive and straightforward as possible. If this is something a majority of people is missing, of course we'll add it if we can.
-would like to be able to find effects quicker by just typing in the first letter
This also has been requested multiple times. The main issue is that this cannot interfere with key mappings people might have running. It's on the to-do list though.
-would like to be able to connect the gain and fall (audio FFT) to the dashboard
This is assume so you can control both gain and fall, or of multiple FFTs at the same time? We'll look into it. For now, this result can be achieved by using a midi controller to map both controls, or a key mapped in mouse mode.
-copy/past a few effects the same time, now I am dragging then 1 by one...
We can see how this can be useful, similar to grouping of effects in one preset. We'll look into how it can best be implemented.
-this might be a bug. If I start a composition in a low res, then drag in a solid color. Then raise the composition res in the setting, then raise the with and height of the solid and then save the composition. The next time I open this comp. Resolume didn´t keep the new width and height I typed in
Thanks for the find! We'll give it a check.
-would like a particle effect were I can texture the particles. I am moving to mac soon so then I can use Quart Composer. But for now?
Such things are indeed possible with QC. For now your faith is in the hands of the FFGL community. ;)

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Hello Joris

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the things that allready had been asked. What I ment with "trigger a clip by moving the fader" is quite basic I think. Have a look at this:

Would be helpful to me, but maybe that's because I often use resolume outside VJ-ing

Thanks again for having a look.

Pretty cool video! I'll add it to the list, but since it's more of an enhancement feature, don't hold your breath waiting for it ;)
