FX mapping

Post by Efrem »

A question about my application mapping:

Recently I've found a second-hand BCR2000, and I've thought to dedicate it to the Composition Effects.
BUT actually isn't possible to map directly the effects list; so I decided to pre-load 20 effects in the Composition Effects window, and map the "ON/OFF buttons" of each effect using the 20 (16+4) buttons of BCR2000.
So when I want I can turn on the effects that I mostly use.

But I'd like to know if to keep pre-loaded 20 or 40 effects (even if turned off) can affect the system performance or stability of Resolume 3.
...a bad idea?

Good question! I also tend to keep around 8 effects in the comp, however I haven't seen any change in performace when removing them completely.

When effects are turned off or bypassed, they are removed from the rendering chain, and will not affect performance. Keeping 20 effects on bypass should be fine, as long as you don't turn em on all at once ;)
