nano Kontrol and version 2.4 / HOW TO MAP BUTTONS?

Post by littlemaker »

Hiyas I'm using the nano Kontrol with version 2.4 I have yet to test it on 3.
I cannot get the buttons to map. They all "map" as the same number.
But do not work! They register but do not perform a function.

Anyone have tips for what they like to map it to?
Can anyone give me a midi map file?
Ty so much!

Can you test what sort of midi data is coming out of your nano? For instance MidiOx allows you to see all incoming and outgoing midi traffic.

Hi,
I think that your problem concerns the MMC commands of the NanoKONTROL.

Using the Korg's editor software, the transport buttons of the NanoKONTROL (Play, Pause, REC, etc.) can be set only as CC or MMC commands, and in Resolume 2 the functions like Play or REC can be mapped only using the NOTE commands.
The cheapest way to solve this problem is to use a free MIDI translation software (like Bome or MIDI-OX); you can set these buttons to send a CC command -> convert the CC commands into NOTES with the MIDI translation software -> finally use the translated commands in Resolume 2 to map the functions like Play or REC.

(obviously to do this you need to create virtual MIDI ports using, for example, MIDI Yoke)

I hope that the explanation is clear, despite my bad english :D

There's no need to use additional software. Just use the provided editor and change the buttons' type from CC to Notes. You can then map them individually using R 2.4.

Tust me, currently is not possible to set the transport buttons of NanoKONTROL as NOTES.

From the NanoKONTROL Owner's Manual:

"There are six transport buttons: [REW], [PLAY], [FF], [LOOP], [STOP], and
[REC]. These buttons transmit control change messages or MMC (MIDI Machine
Control) messages.
