I've collected a fair bit of vid material that I want to cut into manageable clips and convert into .mov with RXV compression. Most of the videos I'v got are MP4 format and I've had mixed success finding programs that will convert MP4 to .mov and also allow RXV compression. Similarly vid editing softs are aimed at producing finished movies, rather than just chopping video into clips and look to be a fair bit more involved than I'm after.
What video editors and converters, free or paid for, do folk use for creating clips to feed into Resolume?

get premiere, sony vegas or fianl cut and u can import anything u like and improve whatever it is and export it to whatever format your live program (like avenue) prefers. even when producing movies as you say, you have to prerender and make clips and so forth before u mash it together at the end, othervise one usually get reaaaally long rendering times and have to do everything over again when finding small errors on your finished work.Similarly vid editing softs are aimed at producing finished movies, rather than just chopping video into clips and look to be a fair bit more involved than I'm after.
i shoot my stuff on hdv and import it to vegas pro and make myriads of small clips, ad fx to them there before i export wmv, mov etc and put into resolume or arkaos for live presentations. you can of course also download stuff forum youtube, import it into the editing suite and cut it down or enhance it before you export and so on.. and if you get trouble importing mp4 into the editing software, i can recommend prism converter for instance.
good luck
