Hello everybody.
I 'm new user of this forum. I use modul8 since 4 years as a happy user for live video/dance show but for our new project, I'm not satisfied of the image quality with modul8. Modul8 has a obscur way to manage video as 'independant resolution'. So I search to have best possible image quality and perfect frame rate reading to maintain fludity and synchronization of clips.
Here's my setup :
Mac Pro 2 x 4 cores 2,66ghz Nehalem (last generation)
6 GB RAM
4 Nvidia 120 GT
1 system disk SATA 7200RPM
3 SATA HD 7200RPM for video
2 full HD monitors for monitoring finder and VJ software
6 ACER VP 1280x800 native resolution.
First test with Modul8 is not so bad (clips converted to JPEG 50%, sized to 720p, all shooted with 5DMarkII), but video quality is far behind from what I get if I look at the same clip, converted of course, in full screen mode with quicktime on one of the VP), and frame rate with 6 differents clips playing at the same time on the 6 VP is not very fluid.. even if it is still useable.
My question is simple: does anyone use a similar setup with what results ? Could resolume solve my problems ?
Thanks a lot for your response.

Re: thinking to switch from modul8 to resolume
Hey Philatub
I think the best way to judge the quality is to try the demo and see for yourself (http://www.resolume.com/download/).
Note that 6 720p layers is a heavy load for any program. For best results we suggest encoding with our DXV codec, which is GPU accelerated when played in Resolume.
Good luck, and let us know if you have further questions!

Re: thinking to switch from modul8 to resolume
Thanks for your advice, unfortunatly I can not try before next rehearsal in October. This setup is not the kind you can try in your house!
If anyone has already use a similar setup, I would very appreciate to have tour feedback.
Thanks.
