laptop projector combo - do i need HDMI - newb

Greetings,

Excuse my ignorance but I'm having to learn very quickly. I've just purchased a Epson EX51 projector which includes an HDMI port...

however the laptop I've put together, and really want, (but haven't actually bought) is this:

DELL PRECISION M6300 2400MHz 4084MB 120GB (NO O/S) 17 DVDRW 10/100 NIC 56 kbps 512 MB NVIDIA QUADRO FX 1600M

which doesn't have an HDMI port. However....

The video clips I normally work w/ are generally 640x480 although i've thought about increasing this w/ the new setup. Do my clips need to be a certain resolution before HDMI actually becomes useful?

If you were me, would you stick with this setup or should I search for a laptop w/ HDMI port?
