After Effects CS4 crashes when loading DXV 2.1 quicktimes

Good day,

A really like the rendering speed of DXV 2.1 in After Effects CS4, works flawlessly.
Today I bumped into an issue regarding loading .mov files in After Effects, everytime I add one in AE it instantly crashes. I tried installing a previous Quicktime versions to no avail, so it rules out the Quicktime versions I guess (tried latest 7.6.7 and 7.60.92).

The strange part is that this only happens with DXV 2.1. When I remove it and install 2.0 everything works fine (AE doesn't crash when adding quicktimes rendered with 2.1). My OS is Windows 7 x64. Do I have to supply any more information?

Thanks for letting us know, we'll look into it. Just to be clear, this happens when loading DXV encoded movies into AE, and not with other codecs?

Yes, only with DXV encoded quicktimes. I will have to put it on a test later this week. See if it happens only with 2.1 movs or with 2.0 aswell. I will let you know how this goes.

OK... so it's like this.. If you import a DXV 2.1 video into AE CS4 via File/import... it'll crash... BUT!!! when u drag & drop the same video directly from explorer it works and AE won't crash.... weird huh? but in general, the problem is codec DXV 2.1... If u downgrade to 2.0 , there are no problems..... but who wants to spend 10x more time with rendering

VJ Air has reported a similar issue. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7075 For him files *rendered* with DXV2.1 are working fine, files *rendered* with earlier DXV versions cause a crash when importing to AE and other apps. When DXV 2.0 is *installed*, everything works as expected. Is this the same for you?

I think I got the solution to this problem, it may be AE after all. After working on some projects that doesn't involve working with or rendering to DXV I bumped into some AE out of memory issues, some weird ones saying can't allocate 1k memory etc.

So I uninstalled AE (moved my plugins to a safe place) and reinstalled it. Now AE works fine loading DXV quicktimes rendered in either 2.0 or 2.1. Both dragndrop and loading content work fine. In a normal case scenario I would reinstall AE right away but this time I didnt expect it to be the problem. Anyone having problems with DXV content already tried this solution?
