DXV 2.1 - crashes in any software except avenue

my problem doesnt seem to be exctly the same as other DXV 2.1 probs, so heres a new thread.

with DVX 2.1 on my machine, any software i try to load clips made with DXV 1, 1.3 or 2 will crash, which makes my entire library unusable.

i get this problem in After Effects, Vegas and Cinema 4D

the solution i found was to delete DXV 2.1 and reinstall DXV 2, which seems to suggest an issue with DXV 2.1

for me DXV 2.1 works fine in all adobe CS4 video products ... on Win 7 64 bit ... there was a conflict with CS4 and DXV 2.1 but only after i installed 64 bit Vegas.... so i had to uninstall Vegas, and now it works fine... just Quicktime crashes trying to open DXV 2.1 files...

OK... so it's like this.. If you import a DXV 2.1 video into AE CS4 via File/import... it'll crash... BUT!!! when u drag & drop the same video directly from explorer it works and AE won't crash.... weird huh?

just for the record, i have not been talking about loading DXV 2.1 files, vj quark is talking about a different problem to the one im experiencing

..... doesn't look like AE import problem at all, yeah right The problem is DXV 2.1 , when u have it installed, even older DXV videos are compressed/uncompressed with 2.1, therefore all the trouble, as soon as i downgrade to DXV 2.0 there are no problems with importing into CS4 or Quicktime.... ( and i know only about CS4 and Quicktime, because i don't use other software like Vegas or Cinema ).. of course except Avenue, where it works fine with 2.1

so there are few solutions:

1.Resolume will fix this DXV2.1 problem

2.keep installed 2.1 and use drag & drop from explorer into AE instead of File/Import (even for older DXV 2, 1.3 etc)

or switch back to DXV 2.0 , with no problems, but sooo sloooow rendering

the issue does not occur for me with files encoded wih DXV 2.1 ( which is why i started a different thread to the other ones ) - only with files encoded with previous versions. you seem to be talking about files encded with DXV 2.1

I'm just curious....can you play DXV 2.1 (or any DXV) files with DXV 2.1 installed on your computer in Quicktime ??OS X or Win??
