DXV and other problems

Post by John McGeoch »

Hi - I`ve been trying the DXV codec again with the new 2.1 version ( using the alpha enabled). Currently I`m using After effects - even with 2.1 can`t get Premiere to render it properly ( displays a single frame only). With After effects the result seems to depend on the composition size. A 1024 / 768 composition freezes AE every time, a 800 / 600 composition mostly works and a 640 / 480 composition always works BUT up to three frames are upside down! Sometimes it`s only one frame and it`s not always in the same place. Very strange.

I`ve also been using the Tunnel effect and scrolling a very long jpeg ( 1024 x 4096 ) to create a long changing `tunnelscape`, however this only works if I put the tunnel in the composition effects. Then I get what I want, the tunnel effect is only on the visible part of the long picture and as the picture scrolls up it appears to come down the tunnel. If I place the tunnel effect on either the layer or the clip itself then the Tunnel effect makes a tunnel of the whole long jpeg and it`s unusable. This effectively means that it can`t be used live as to get it to work the whole composition is tunneled rather than just the specific prepared jpeg. Any ideas why this should be and how to get around it?

Finally I`m still not able to run flash animations - having bought the ReadMe set - latest thoughts are is this anything to do with running a 64 bit operating system and Flash only being 32? They run from explorer though?

cheers JmcG

Hey John

Re DXV: We've been working hard on this, and thus far most of the issues you mention have been addressed. We still need to test a bit before we release, but stay tuned.

Re tunnel: I'm afraid that's how the tunnel effect works. In a future release you'll be able to change the order of effects and clip translations, which should solve this. But for now, the only solution would be custom FFGL filter.

Re Flash: we're looking into it, but Adobe is proving a real nightmare with the latest updates.
