adding efects to layers, compo or clips?

Post by ondrejsevcik »

if i add any effect to layer it looks like it works the same way as it is added to clip effects, not layer effects

example:

i have a picture of a man bigger than compo resolution, trigger it into layer, scale it down so it is just small in the middle of the screen and now i would like to add f.e. fisheye effect onto it..
if i add it to clip effect the picture goes out of the frame - that is ok, because the original man is fills the whole picture.
but i suppose when i add effect to a layer (not clip) it would act as the man is small so the fisheye would deform the picture with a small man in the middle but it does not work this way.
i have to add fisheye to a compo effect, then it works properly but the problem is all other layers are fisheyed too which i dont want. - i am sending you examples via email.
it works this way with all other effects

what can i do?

thx a lot

Instead of adding an extra render pass to the pipeline, translations and effects on both layers and clips are first calculated cumulative and only then rendered. Basically Resolume treats translations and effects on clip and layers as the same thing. This shaves off quite a bit of render time, giving a boost in FPS. Since it is rather different to what you would expect, we're looking into making this an option in future.

Hope that makes sense.
