Sofar i have read about midi (keyboard) controllers as external controllers for resolume. Is anyone aware of experimental projects with alternative controllers like gamecontrollers (skateboard / dance mat etc) ?

lots of things, including dance mats, can control midi, either as triggers or by design. game controllers would have to be ported to the program.. but don't underestimate what you can do with triggering. search for "midi triggers" and you'll see what i mean..

there are some tools out there wich can convert joystick messages to midi.
i found one german tool:
http://loopstation.glizz.net/

the site is in german, but just look for the download if you can't figure out what he is saying..

i prefer vmidijoy.
it has some cool settings like swiching between presets
or setting the range of your joystick axis.
