Audio in controlling timeline like in 2.4

How do I get sound from the line in to control the progression on the time line like in 2.4.
In 2.4 It is right there with a little speaker icon and four options. Next to the time line.
What can I do in 3 to mimic this ?

Out of the box, this is not possible, I'm afraid. It's relatively straightforward to make a workaround using OSC and a third party application like Max or QC though. Check this thread for more info:

May I ask why it is so complicated to implement this essential feature? I'm waiting for it since v3.0
