hi guys,

im thinking of buying a 2nd internal HD instead of using my external firewire HD.
but what are your thoughts on the difference in speed between a serial ATA drive (7200 RPM 8MB Cache) and an external firewire HD (FW400, 7200 RPM).
i know the serial ATA drive is faster (not the drive itself but the data transfer) than the external FW HD but would it be really noticeable? and is the difference big enough so that i could play higher resolution clips?

thanx in advance,

hi jim,

would that really be a big difference? because im using firewire now only with an ide drive.
if i would use an S-ATA drive via firewire it wouldnt be faster than an internal S-ATA drive, right?
and if i bought a S-ATA drive it would be cheaper to use it internally.

serial ATA might not make a big difference right now, but they will be getting much faster in the near future (if you have a mboard that supports it)
