Working properly?

I am running resolume 3 on my macbook pro 2.4 w/ 4 gigs of ram and I try to drag the effect to a video clip and nothing happens? Is there a video tutorial that is good where I can see how this functions properly?

Macbook Pro 10.6.5
4Gigs of ram
2.4 Ghz Processor
500 gig 5400 rpm drive

Do I need a different computer to run this program? I see the effects in the box but nothing happens, I can play video clips but nothing loads with the effects.

It sounds like you're dragging it onto the Layer Effects tab. Try dragging it directly onto one of the clips in the deck. There's a video all about effects here: http://resolume.com/avenue/features.php?effects

Also remember that some effects need some tweaking before they start affecting the output. Which effect are you talking about?
