DXV Codec - 29fps. Why?

Post by modestnikov »

Hi! I use Resolume 3, MAC OS ...... I have a problem.

Before that, I convert all my videos thus:
640x480 Photo JPEG 30 fps, the quality 80

when I put the video in Resolume, the properties of clip indicated 29fps!.
From this my videos have been very slow. ((Work it hard.

I decided to go to the DXV Codec (despite the fact that I do not like it compression)

So. with the codec, I did everything just as well. 30 - of course! But! After I put the video in Resolume, the properties of some clips still show 29 FPS !!!!!!!!!!!((( everything slows down. why??

p.s video set I'm doing with AE CS3

Thank you!
and sorry for my english (

Resolume Avenue 3.3.1
In composition settings I write 30 fps, and writing 30 fps when exporting clip, but the material from which I make videos, of course, not all 30 fps

my mac http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/m ... specs.html

I really can not imagine where the problem!
After Effetsts C3 + MacBook Pro + Composition Settings 30 FPS >>> Make Movie >>> DXV Codec + 30 FPS

Hey guys

I can confirm that Resolume recognizes the FPS wrongly. A 30 fps clip from AE is identified as being 29 fps in the properties. Thanks for pointing this out, and I've made a ticket for it.

However, I cannot recreate the slow downs that are mentioned. Letting the same 5 second loop run both in QT player and in Resolume has them running at the same speed, with the loop in Resolume actually being a fraction faster (a difference that only becomes noticeable after continuous playback over a period of 5 minutes). This most likely has to do with the fact that Resolume has a better looping algorithm.

If you are experiencing differently, could you please describe in detail how much slower the clip is, and how you've come to this conclusion? And if possible, could you send us one of the clips?

Joris, thanks! this problem causes serious difficulties. Compared to Codec Photo JPEG, which I used earlier, I can describe the work of Codec DXV as follows: loop reading goes discontiniously, scroll goes erratically through timeline. It isn't always like that but very often. When I start the new loop, it locks-resolume reads the loop with delay of miliseconds. I didn't have it like this with Photo JPEG.

And the most important thing-when I put several video layers, the delay increases- it looks like 15-20 fps then. When I mix 3 videos, it goes even slower (10-15 fps). I hope that this problem will be solved. Maybe it has to do with my hardware or software, but I doubt it. Anyway I will go on using Photo JPEG untill the new DXV update comes out.

Soon I will try to write you an example of video
