i´m sorry people for double-posting this, but it is rather urgent:
" hi all! do you people normally use s-video out on graphic cards to output to a video projector? my question is: when using dual monitors, one being the pc monitor and the other your tv/projector, you have to set the refresh rate to 50hz (PAL, i'm in europe) which in many cases means you are going to damage your computer monitor, which generally does not support refresh rates below 60hz. is there any work-around this issue? when you read about graphics cards outputting at two different resolutions it kind of makes you forget that they're outputting at the same refresh rate... do matrox dualhead cards output at different refresh rates?
any help on the subject would be very, very, very much appreciated. thanks "
tv-out + refresh rate
hi Fryjk,
cant help on the subject
but i have the same problem... didnt seem to get the dvdmax working properly... video output keeps flickering... like your watching the output through a fan or something... really anoying.
dont have a beamer at home so ive never been able to really test any other settings. and when im on a gig i dont want to fool around with the settings...
i always go dual screen and output my video on the second monitor, but in that setup theres usually no preview since many clubs dont have a vga cable running back from the vga splitter to get a second monitor for the preview...
i can buy a vga splitter/amplifier but with dvdmax working properly it would work also... so why spend the money?
any help on the subject would be really appreciated here also...

It depends on your graphics card. I've had random problems opccasionally including the one you describe! But updating drivers usually works! If it nvidia check that you're treating the 2 monitors as seperate monitors (span mode) not clone theres a check box I think!. Also check out TVtool, I've found installing it but not actually using it more than to set up the monitors helped for some reason! But its quite handy anyway for swtiching between modes.
hmm with thesame settings it works now...
i think its because i adjusted the settings and than started resolume...
output is set to 50 Hz and it seems to work now... but i have the idea that it takes a lot of processor power? my HD is constantly working... not the external but the internal... pretty weird isnt it?
but anyways i got it working properly now tnx for the advice!

i think he means the flickering in a different mannor , more that it looks like the dvdmax function goes on and off per 2 or 3 frames.. thats happening with my p750 now... all the tricks that u would use for the 400/450/550 or ati don't work for this specific problem..
the best trick until now , i have is this =
turn off dvd-max in your display properties
choose a profile with one monitor and one tv
as dual independent
then move our preview to the other monitor...
i hope those guys from resolume could fix this problem rather fast..
